Contest is Over

So the contest is officially over. Both Aaron and Steve decided that it was not worth the extra $110 to wait for the other person to shave. So they decided to chop the pot. So PAY UP! I have given my money to Steve already.

Amazing Week 7

Well it was a pretty amazing start to week 8. At the end of week 7 we had 6 people left. Then the discussion of Halloween came up and Bret stirred up a ton of controversy by saying that he wanted to "shape" his moustache as part of his costume. His plan... he wanted to create, what he perceived, to be an even creepier moustache. Something along the lines of this:
While he felt this would be a sacrifice, many of the other people felt this was a direct violation of the amended "no trim rule". Regardless Bret pushed on ignoring the fact that everyone else said this would disqualify. After all the fuss, this morning Bret announced his departure from the moustache contest. Then shortly there after Brad also announced his departure. Later that day, I learn that Bryan has also departed from the contest. He claims he was just irritated by "bending" of the rules, I think he just caved under the pressure. So in one weekend the field has been cut in half. Will be interesting to see how long the three of them last.

Freedom!

Oh breeze on my upper lip, how I've missed you. Check out the before and after shots:

$20 to be promptly paid to the treasurer. For you suckers still in the contest I'll refer to Nelson from the Simpsons: HA-HA!.

Farewell....

Well, it looks like there was no need for all of the drama on Friday after all….you guys were right…shaping even just the smallest amount wasn’t going to cut it. That, coupled with the pure ecstasy of trimming away months of pain and suffering proved to be too much. One swipe and it was all over. Next to having my summit team fall while being stranded on Everest and having to choose which of my younger siblings lived and died…this was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. To all the brave souls still marching onward, stay strong and keep fighting the good fight. I’ll remember you all.

-Bret “Tumbleweed” Harris

P.S.
The day after shaving thousands of the world’s most beautiful women flocked from all around, my parents accepted me back in the family and I was finally allowed back within 100 yds of public parks and playgrounds

An update from Bret

My fellow creepers,

I think it's high time we got some updated photos on the blog so we can see who's still in this thing.

Also, I think it's time we start upping the ante a little bit to speed this thing up.  We could start by having everyone who still wants to be in the contest having to update their Intra-Active photo with a stache photo.  Several other ideas that have gone around are:

1.    Updating drivers license photo

2.    shaving stache into funny shape (or halving it)

3.    Creating an eHarmony account and seeing who can get the most hits

4.    etc.

If you have any other ideas, let’s get em out there.  We could probably start doing these once a week until we have a winner.  Thoughts?

Bret

And then there were 6

So yes I have officially lost the war on the home front. Despite my offer to give all my winnings to my wife to do whatever she wanted with, she ultimately could not stand my moustache. The amazing part was I had the support of both her real mom and her step mom. That plus the $220 was simply not enough for her to deal with the continued irritation. I will say the rest of you are really lucky that my wife felt so strongly about this as I was in it to win it. I had always wanted to grow a full fu manchu, and this was the perfect opportunity. Maybe one day. At least I made it to week 6 (which I was only able to take me and brad before my battery died). Either way I will admit it was getting REALLY annoying. I hear some of you even have to shampoo your growth to keep it manageable. Anyway, I did also hear that shortly before my departure from the contest I believe Mr. Ramos has also dropped out. I think we are about to get into the really difficult stages of the contest where you are forced to eat your stache every day!!! Good luck suckers.

Here are the week 6 photos that I was able to take

Ps. I will still be the photographer... just stop by my cube. 3rd floor west end.

Bryan's weekend

Update from Bryan:

Saturday night…

Went to a bar downtown, hung out had a good time with some active friends. I leave the bar to go to another bar and some guys say “If that is real that is awesome” I replied “Oh its real”….
The other bar had to long of a line so we decided to call it a night, we were all just on a corner saying goodnight shooting the shit – when I see a guy in my peripheral… He says something rude and I respond with “do I know you and do we have a problem?!”
He is really drunk and says to his friend we might have a problem and a fight.. I respond again with a louder do we have a problem… he stumbles away and says “I hate mustaches and you look like a molester!!!!”

I can’t believe this thing almost got me into a fight…

This makes me want to grow it longer and keep it longer

I have some bad news...

A note from Brad:

I recently ran a comb through my moustache, and it felt AMAZING! So, unfortunately for you guys my heart is back in this thing and I’m in it to win it.

Sorry.

B

P.S., if you haven’t tried the comb-through I highly suggest it. It will change your whole perspective.

Active Moustache week 5 photos

Well, the rumors were true. The Active Moustache contest has yet another man down. He reportedly made it 1/2 way thru his family reunion before the embarrassment became to much for him to handle. He simply could not face his family with the growth on his face. So that leaves us with 8 moustaches.

Two down in one week

The Active Moustache contest has another casualty this week. Reportedly Mr O'Brien was pretty shaken up by the no trim rule. I guess he thought he would be able to keep his moustache neatly trimmed for the duration of the contest. Will there be a third this week? One of the contestants is missing from week 4 photos due to a large family reunion. There is a rumor that he will be coming back clean shaven. I believe he returns today, will be interesting to see if he was man enough to face his family with his new growth.

To Trim or Not To Trim

There has been much debate over one of the moustashe rules. The founding fathers of this contest set forth a rule that stated: "No trimming of moustache is allowed except outside the "lip-line". Once the moustache grows over the upper lip, this may be trimmed as well."

So as the interest/participation in the contest grew, so did the opinions about what the rules should be. On one hand some of the moustachians feel that they should be able to trim the moustache if it begins to grow below their top lip. Other moustachians feel if trimming is alowed, the contest could go on for years.

Last week, we all discussed this rull and it seemed like we all agreed that we would NOT trim. Well this week the topic has come up again as the trimmers seem to be very concerned about this adjustment to the rules. So I will put it to you. What do you think?

Man Down!!!

The Active Moustache contest has suffered it's first casualty. Mr. Tree has succumb to the pressures of society and has eliminated himself from the moustache contest. Was it the odd looks at the PTA meetings, pressure from the four women in his life, or did he just decide that he was not as creepy as everyone else in the contest? Either way, shortly after this decision he realized his mistake and tried to pass off this pathetic impersonation of the creepy man he once was.

Are Active Moustaches for Sale?

Active Moustaches were on display today

Come On In patrons had a bit of a treat today. Around noon, the Active Moustaches were on display. Oddly the nearby tables tended to remain empty. Go figure.

Week 4 Moustache Photos

Week 3 Moustache Photos

Week 3 photos. You may be wondering by now why one of the contestants still has more than a moustache. There was a special case made for him so that he could get married with at least a little dignity. Next week he will be back from his honeymoon. It is expected that he will remove what is left of his dignity and be looking as creepy as ever.
